Our New School Room...Finally! And Workboxes

I decided to try a new system for Morgan and Ian. We are still using our same curriculum, this is just a new way of organizing their daily lessons. I fill each drawer with different activities. Morgan's drawers or "workboxes" are labeled with pink number cards. Ian's are the orange number cards. I have been doing this at night so they are ready for the following morning. They work through the boxes in order. When they have completed a box, they move the number card from the box to their "strip" on the side of the bookcase to let me know it has been finished. ( you can see the strips in the pictures below). That is it!! So far, it has been working well and Momo says she likes doing school this way! She has even started working more independently which is really great because she usually wants me to be right beside her every minute!

Here are some of Ian's workboxes filled and ready for the next morning.

Here are Momo's

In this box, I had a little surprise craft for Momo to do. This was her last box for the day! She was really excited to get finished so she could do this.

And here are the pictures of our new school room!! Alison, this is just for you!! The door going into the room.

Looking in from the door.

One wall.....our two very full bookshelves, posters and workboxes.

The desk, computer and opposite wall from the bookshelves. Don't pay attention to the messy desk and full trash can....I had been working on some school stuff!

Looking towards the door from the corner where you saw the golf clubs and guitar. ( notice the green and yellow strips along the side of the bookcase, these are for the workbox system)
